Pastor Matt is a graduate of Auburn University and former Auburn Football kicker. He attended seminary through Lakeview Baptist Church’s cohort with Southern Seminary. He met his wife Monica while at Auburn and they married in 1996. She is also a graduate of Auburn University and now teaches English and ACT at Beauregard High School.
They have four sons. Matthew is 27 and a graduate of The University of Memphis. He resides in Crawford and travels around pursuing his acting career. Caleb is 25 and is also a graduate of The University of Memphis. Caleb works as a pharmaceutical rep, lives in Crawford with his wife, Katie Johnson of Phenix City, and is expecting their first child in March 2027. Joshua is 22, lives in Crawford, and currently works in Auburn. Jacob is a student at Southern Union Community College and spends as much time as possible on the soccer field.
Pastor Matt loves the local church and has a heart for seeing people passionately follow Jesus and make disciples. Matt also enjoys sports with pickleball being his favorite pastime. He loves cooking on his Blackstone and having family game nights with his wife and kids.
